Last summer I met some friends at a bar literally 10 minutes away. As the night ended, I drank about 5 or 6 mixed drinks in a three hour timespan. I was definitely not able to drive legally, but I got into the car and proceeded to drive home because it was close and the thought of leaving my car in some shady bar parking lot wasn't a good idea.
On the way back I was literally two blocks away and there was someone jogging really late at night. I was buzzed and driving really slow and even though he was wearing all black (that's just stupid) I didn't see him. I had no idea until he was literally a few feet from the car and thank God I was going slow he jumped out of the way onto the grass. I was so mortified and horrified and everything that I kept going and went through a stop sign and just didn't stop until I got home.
I thought about this for a while and just wanted to share that it's really important you figure out how to get home when you drink and to always pay attention while driving! If I hit this person who knows what would've happened. The thought of living with that the rest of my life would not be something I could handle.
I'm proud to say because of this sobering (no pun intended) incident I have never drove drunk again. Our life (or the life of another) can be taken in the blink of an eye. . .
